It's free for members and their families.


Could each family please bring a plate of dessert, salad or finger food to share (cultural dishes welcome).

Also gold coins to buy tickets for the Christmas hamper raffle!

  • Please list the names of those likely to play in the blitz tournament which finishes at 9:30pm.

Congratulations to Gavyn Sanusi-Goh on finishing equal top on points (5.5) and 2nd place on tie-break in the Open U12 section. Chengyun (4.5) and Tiger (4.0) were not far off the pace.

What We Offer

Croydon Chess offers an enjoyable, family-friendly environment suitable for chess players of all ages and skill levels.

  • We meet on Thursday nights during school terms. Juniors: 6:30pm to 7:30pm, Youth: 6:30pm to 7:30pm and Seniors: 7:30pm onwards.
  • We have a tiered coaching program for our junior & youth players and coaching nights for our senior players.
  • We run regular tournaments from fun Blitz events to strong ACF rated Open events.

Statement of Purpose

Croydon Chess exists to:

  • encourage the enjoyment of chess amongst residents of Croydon and surrounding suburbs
  • educate our community about the benefits of a lifetime of playing chess
  • train participants of all ages to become more technically proficient in their play
  • facilitate the running of structured (competitive) chess tournaments as well as informal (casual) play
  • provide a welcoming club environment that fosters development of productive, long-term relationships between our members
