The winner of the 2010 Beautiful Game Award (as determined by last year's winner Ian Birchall) is junior Joseph Wong for his win over Scott Humphreys in the Croydon Open tournament. This game was played on board 2 in the penultimate round of the 2010 Croydon Open. Scott was in form and in outright 2nd place after having beaten the second seed, Jonathan Cook (1827), in a very good game in the previous round. So Scott, on form, may have been expected to win, however Joseph, a very dangerous junior, had other ideas. In this game, Joseph showed calm defense under pressure, good positional understanding and fine tactical skills. A very fine effort!
