2014 CROYDON OPEN
Format: Seven round Swiss. Games will be governed by the FIDE laws of chess and will be ACF-rated.
Dates: Seven Thursday evenings: 6 February-20 March
Starting time for each round: 7:45pm
Prizes: 1st $150, 2nd $100, 3rd $70
Rating (U1600) $70, Junior (U18) $70
Maximum of one cash prize per entrant.
Biggest Upset Prize - Book
Entry fees: $30 Standard Entry, $20 Juniors and Croydon CC members. GMs, IMs, FMs and WIMs free. Payment due on the first evening of the tournament. Players are advised to be present at 7:30 pm before the start of round 1.
Time control: 60 minutes + 30 seconds per move
Forfeit time: 30 minutes
Turn off Mobile Phones at start of play: Use of communication devices without the permission of the arbiter is prohibited. Penalty for mobile phone making a noise is game forfeit.
Byes: Two half-point byes allowed in the first five rounds only. Other than that requested byes count as zero. The Arbiter must be notified of a bye request before the beginning of the previous round.
Illness/Absence/Postponements: If you are unable to make your game please contact the Arbiter as soon as possible, so that your opponent can be advised. If there is sufficient warning, it may be possible to postpone the game with the agreement of the Arbiter and the opponent, otherwise the game will be forfeit.
Scoresheets: Please leave a copy of your game score. Games will be published on our website under the 'Tournaments' tab and also in our Games Database under the 'Games & links' tab. The games in the 'Tournaments' section may have comments included.
