1st Croydon Online Cup
Overview:
Participants must register by Sunday 26th Sep. 5pm.
Participants are divided into groups of 4 based on rating and play a round-robin against the other players in their group over 3 Thursday evenings*. (Thursdays – 30/9, 7/10, 14/10)
The games are played on Lichess.org using a 40min +15s time control.

Format : Graded 4-player round-robins
Participants are ranked according to their ACF Classic rating. Groups of 4 players are formed – top 4, next 4 etc. A round robin tournament is played among the players in each group.

Time control: 40 minutes + 15 seconds per move.

Online Venue, Ratings and Online Rules: Games are played online on lichess.org
Instructions for registering with Lichess, contacting your opponent and playing a game are in the attached document.
Play should mimic that of a normal club tournament. So, players are not allowed to receive assistance in any form. Use of notes, books, other websites, computer analysis, databases or advice of any kind during play is not permitted.
Games are not ACF rated, but may be rated on Lichess only if both players agree.
Please be aware: We trust that our members will act in the spirit of the game and will comply with the rules, however Lichess has its own cheat detection system and anti-cheating policy, which Croydon Chess has no control over. If cheating behaviour is detected by Lichess, the results of games may be changed.

Pairings and results:
Pairings will be emailed to participants and published on Croydonchess.com, on Monday 27th Sep.
* The default game time will be 7:30pm Thursday each week, but players may agree to a different time. The onus is on the player who requires a change to contact the opponent and organise a mutually agreed time (before Sunday 5pm).
Immediately after the game, both players will email the result to secretary@croydonchess.com stating players’ real names.

Forfeit time: 10 min.
If you aren't ready to commence play within 10 min of the default or agreed start time, you lose. Any player claiming a win should immediately email the organiser.
