“Freestyle” refers to chess played with the Fischer-Random (also known as 960Chess) rules. The “Grand Slam” refers to a series of events played in different countries leading to a final towards the end of the year.
Vincent Keymer won the first event for the year in Weissenhaus, Germany.
The Paris event players are Magnus Carlsen, Gukesh Dommaraju, Hikaru Nakamura, Fabiano Caruana, Vincent Keymer, Arjun Erigaisi, Praggnanandhaa R., Vijit S. Gujarathi, Richard Rapport, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Alireza Firouzja, and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.
